Milano Design Week at Cascina Cuccagna
Capitalism is over — A farewell party
an exhibition by Raumplan and ACCC

Here we are on the verge of a new era, celebrating
the decadence of the golden age of industrial welfare,
while getting a taste of the new world.

Raumplan and Cascina Cuccagna are pleased to invite you
to a fictional farewell party for the end of capitalism.

All sorts of guest are coming: from representatives of an
enlightened industrial capitalism to the latest massive corporations, from long-lasting and established manufacturers to young and hungry designers from all over the place.

Let’s take a bow to the greats, but now it’s time to face what’s coming next.

From April 1st to 9th in via privata Cuccagna 2-4, Milano

Milano Design Week in Cascina Cuccagna

Capitalism is over | A farewell party

  • Balance Collection is a project by Studio Daphne Zuilhof, all pieces are self-produced in the studio in Amsterdam. Because of it’s round shape the Balance Cup moves, drawing your attention. While at first this seems merely impractical, the intrigue actually slows down your pace and increases your awareness. #capitalismisover curated by #raumplan at #cascinacuccagna #milandesignweek2017
  • Women and mirrors: Maya Manz works, through recycling and a respectful approach towards materials and people. The mirrors she uses are to be thrown away, those are not the antique ones. The pictures inside them are images that she found here and there, on the streets, as advertising or in a rumpled book in some forgotten basement. They are unique pieces, with the aim to restore life and honor to the materials. In this case, they are also a gift to all women. www.mayamanz.ch (pics: Emanuela Plebani)
  • The project Artĭfĭcĭum fits critically into the theme proposed by Capitalism is Over selecting designers who register the constant impact of Capital on human action and on our habitat. Through the destruction of the limit between natural and artificial, through questioning the concept of civilization by underlying the artificial character of human action, the collected projects express the needs to rethink the process of design production and distribution, and, broadly speaking, the overall capacity of Capital economy to rebuild itself in new shapes and new forms. • Denmark, January 1945. Arkitekten, one of the Danish Architectural Magazine, published an issue on “Tegnestuens Organisation”, an exhibition that aimed to answer to a specific question: how the practices of Architecture need to organize their workflow to be successful. It was the flourishing momentum of the “great optimization" pushed in Scandinavia by Tarras Sällfors, the economist who was able to change the work life of a generation of white-collars incepting the principles of the fordist Assembly Line within the newly born Welfare State. Seventy years later, “Index Room” aims to build up a physical archive of who and what was behind the Danish architectural production blossomed immediately after the WWII in the "Golden Age of the Welfare State” (1945-75). Index Room is an ongoing research by Angela Gigliotti. • A Banquet for Capitalism Salottobuono #jeanbenoitvetillard #lebanquetgaulois organization #untitledvenice #capitalismisover curated by #raumplan at #cascinacuccagna #milandesignweek2017 A collective meal with a ritual character. It’s the space for celebration, for ceremony, for gathering. A space where food and drinks become an infrastructure for hospitality and gift. Rather than a hierarchic and educated convivium, le Banquet proposes a wild and democratic feast, celebrating the communal value of eating together. Le Banquet is a place for encounter and performance. The core of the banquet is also a theatrical scene. The objects that define this space are constantly re-arranged according to the specific needs, and with the desire to produce an ever changing variety of possible programs: from a cooking lesson to a public talk, from an acoustic performance to an opening dinner.
